Ways the invention of the internet has changed the world

download_(15)Those born in the ’70s will be quick to remind the new generation that they never had access to the internet for most of their teen and young adult life. While it seems ubiquitous and essentially a part of everyday lives today, the internet has only been truly available to most parts of the world in the late ’90s.

But transform the world it definitely did. When the new millennium arrived, the internet started to become more globally available and connected the planet in ways people could not even dream of in previous decades. With its rise came huge quality of life improvements like improved communication, international commerce, networking, and technology and culture transference.

The boom of social media has likewise changed the landscape of modern information dissemination. With the internet came the true digital and information age. Most conveniences many now enjoy have the internet to thank for it, even if only indirectly, from access to world news and the proliferation of smartphones to online shopping and even forming romantic relationships.

Because of the internet and how it has drastically changed businesses and human interaction, the world now looks at intimacy in a very different way. It’s so much easier to communicate with friends and families by chatting, calling, video sessions, and sending photos. You can now even form virtual social networks with people you have not even met, yet follow the same interests, hobbies, and leanings.
